User Cleanup & Deactivation for cloud now supports data residency and simplified Entra ID synchronization

In Kantega SSO our purpose is to make life easier for Atlassian admins. Based on feedback from our customers, our forge app team has released two enhanced versions of Automated User Cleanup & Deactivation this week: version 6 for Jira and version 2 for Confluence.

Kantega SSO always aims to make life easier for Atlassian administrators. We do this by listening carefully to feedback from the administrators we serve today and our future customers.

The most recent result: Erik, Gløer, and Elias from our Forge — the state-of-the-art Cloud development platform from Atlassian — app development team have released two enhanced versions of Automated User Cleanup & Deactivation this week:

  • Version 6.*.* for Atlassian Jira, and
  • Version 2.*.* for Atlassian Confluence.

Automated User Cleanup & Deactivation is an Atlassian Marketplace app designed to automatically scan your Atlassian platforms to identify active versus inactive accounts. Automated User Cleanup & Deactivation streamlines the process of offboarding users who no longer need to consume a license.

The new releases offer Atlassian Cloud customers several, oft-requested improvements:

  • Simplified synchronization with Entra ID

Many Atlassian customers centralize user management across platforms and applications in Microsoft Entra ID. The new release supports CSV export of cleanup lists that are compatible with the Entra ID bulk group removal format.

By supporting this Microsoft standard, we make it easier for Atlassian admins to streamline the process of keeping their Jira and Confluence instances in synch with Entra ID.

This Microsoft article explains the process:

  • Enhanced graphic visualization

Our User Activity Dashboard has undergone an overhaul. Now, it automatically adapts to Atlassian licensing tiers with the option to align with your company’s billing cycle (monthly or annual).

The new enhanced dashboard makes it easier for Atlassian administrators — and management — to get an easy-to-digest overview of and quickly optimize license usage.

  • Data residency support

Many organizations must follow government regulations that constrain where the company may host its data. For Atlassian Premium and Enterprise customers, our application inherits data residency settings from the host product, providing peace of mind that user data processing complies with company guidelines.

  • Support for differentiating offboarding rules between internal and external users

Many companies have sound business reasons for treating internal employee users and external users, like consultants, customers, and business partners, differently when it comes to user offboarding.

The new releases enable Atlassian administrators to easily differentiate internal and external users when defining user cleanup rules and schedules.
