From today Kantega SSO is compatible with the new, enhanced data center versions of Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket and Bamboo (Data Center Platform 7)

Kantega SSO is now compatible with Atlassians enhanced data center products: Confluence 9.0, Jira 10.0 and Bitbucket 9.0 (Data Center Platform 7)

Atlassian’s data center platform has undergone the largest technical upgrade in its history this year. Although not directly visible to enterprise customers, Confluence 9.0, Jira 10.0, Bitbucket 9.0, and Bamboo 10.0 introduce several changes that enhance software security. The developer term for the family of enhanced data center software is “Data Center Platform 7”.

We in Kantega SSO have worked alongside great colleagues from Atlassian and from our fellow Marketplace App vendors across the ecosystem to reengineer our apps to ensure they will work seamlessly when our customers start upgrading their host software to the new, enhanced versions.

From today we in Kantega SSO have the pleasure to announce that our apps are compatible with the new enhanced, data center versions of Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket!

What are the main differences between the previous data center software and the new enhanced one?

The changes impact the way that plugin-apps like Kantega SSO interact with the host software but that are not visible in the end user and admin interfaces.

  • An upgrade of numerous Atlassian and third-party components so that they benefit from the latest security patches and bug fixes
  • The source code has been upgraded from Java 11 to Java 17
  • The REST APIs that plugins use to exchange information with the host software have been revamped
  • A number of Gray APIs (old and unsupported third party and and crosss product libraries) have been phased out

What do I need to pay attention to when upgrading to the new enhanced data center software from Atlassian?

Although the changes do not impact the user interface in Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket and Bamboo, they do impact how Marketplace apps communicate with the host software.

Before upgrading to the most recent version of host software we therefore recommend to:

  • Verify that all crucial apps are available in versions compatible with “Data Center Platform 7” that use Java version 17
  • Thoroughly test the host software including crucial apps in a test environment before deploying in production

How do I find the right version of Kantega SSO apps that are compatible with platform 7?

All Kantega SSO releases numbered 7.27.x or higher are compatible with host software built on the enhanced data center platform. For further details please consult: Kantega SSO Enterprise 7.27.x release notes - Kantega SSO Enterprise - Confluence (atlassian.net)
